In the latest developer blog post from the Marvel's Avengers team at Crystal Dynamics, it has been announced that content updates to the game will end with the release of Patch 2.8 on March 31st, 2023. Official service will end later in the year on September 30, 2023, after which you will no longer be able to purchase the game. Single and multiplayer campaigns will still be available following the end of official service, but bugfixes and customer support will cease.
Crystal Dynamics states that the decision to end support for the game was "a decision made in conjunction with our partners," which likely means the studio's new ownership — Embracer Group — after it was sold by Square Enix along with Eidos Montreal and Onoma (Square Enix Montreal). The developer of the Tomb Raider reboot trilogy struggled to find an audience for the game following a mixed reaction from consumers when it launched in August 2020. Despite this content and feature updates alongside bug fixes rolled out nearly every quarter until the final update this coming March, it appears it could not maintain enough forward momentum to continue service.
